Baby Z’s Pink & Purple Newborn Session – Tucson Newborn Photographer

I first met this Momma and her two boys when she brought them in early for sibling portraits on school picture day at their preschool last September. At that time she was only about 5 months pregnant. Her youngest boy was not at all interested in posing with his brother, or smiling at the camera, or any of it really.

I ended up chasing him all over the courtyard, just trying to get him to stay in the same frame with his older brother. And then later for class pictures & his individual pictures, the poor little guy was in tears. It was clear that he is really a sweetheart, but that day was just not his day. When we did retakes a few weeks later, he did great!

To say I was a little nervous about how the boys would do in the studio was a little bit of an understatement. I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to help with an uncooperative or uninterested toddler, but it is very difficult to get them to participate if they have made up their mind that they don’t want to.

So, I was just really hoping that day was going to be a good day. It turns out that it was – at least in the beginning…

We started out with pictures with their Aunt & Grandparents. He did great for these first handful of images, with the help of my bright green oinking pig. But quickly lost interest when the pictures were with Mom & Dad. And only grasping a plethora of trucks & other wheeled vehicles could get him into the same frame with his siblings. Photographing toddlers is always an adventure – you just never know what mood they are going to be in for the session, so we all just have to roll with it!

Take a look at the variety of family images that we got with this beautiful extended family!

Once the boys left, Grandma & Grandpa and Auntie left, things settled down a bit, and it was just Momma & Baby & I for the rest of the session.

When Momma first contacted me to schedule Baby Z’s newborn session, I asked her what colors or themes that she wanted to incorporate into her newborn session. She told me that after parenting two wild boys for the past 5 years, she wanted all things girly; pink, purple, flowers, gold, silver, hearts, moon & stars. I think we definitely did “girly”!

One of my favorite things about Baby Z, was how smiley she was. All I had to do was brush her cheek (a trick that sometimes works to get them to smile for the camera during sessions), and she would smile almost every time. I just loved seeing the personality behind all of her little grins, half-smiles, and smirks.
