Charlee was recently placed on the Autism Spectrum, and as a Mom with their own child on the spectrum, I totally understand the hesitation to book a photo session, because you just don’t know what you’ll get. During Charlee’s birthday session, we made sure to bring her favorite toy & blankie, as well as giving her ample time to run & play in the dirt. With a young child on the spectrum, can’t push them too much, so you just let them go, and try to capture their joyful spirit as they play. And for little Miss Charlee; running, bubbles, dirt, plants, and tickles were what she really liked!!
In case anyone wants to know anything more about Autism. According to Wikipedia, Autism spectrum, also known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a range of mental disorders of the neurodevelopmental type. It includes autism and Asperger syndrome. Individuals on the spectrum often present with problems with social communication and interaction; and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests or activities. Symptoms are typically recognized between one and two years of age. Long term issues may include difficulties in performing daily tasks, creating and keeping relationships, and maintaining a job. Autism spectrum disorders are thought to develop gradually in nature, in which parents report concerns in development over the first two years of life and diagnosis is made around 3–4 years of age. Some of the early signs of ASDs in this course include decreased looking at faces, failure to turn when name is called, failure to show interests by showing or pointing, and delayed imaginative play.
This was my first time using Catalina State Park for a session, and it was beautiful! I am looking forward to using this location for a set of fall family mini sessions November of this year!
